Groundskeeper, On-Call

This position provides grounds keeping and general maintenance services to the College. It will cover both Castlegar and Nelson campuses as required.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintaining lawns, shrubs, trees, flower beds and planters
  • Landscaping and irrigation
  • Maintaining and clearing walkways, roads and parking lots
  • Servicing and repairing grounds equipment
  • Repairing and maintaining sprinkler systems

Performs general maintenance services including:

  • Assist Maintenance trades people as required
  • Complete maintenance and minor repairs to assigned tools and equipment
  • Setting up and taking down furniture/equipment for special events and functions
  • Minor "handyperson" repairs
  • Assembling furniture
  • Picking up and delivering of freight
  • Cleaning maintenance vehicles
  • Must be able to work at Trail (Castlegar & Nelson) campus
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Must be in good physical condition
  • Must be able to work with others in a team environment

Education and Experience

  • High School Graduation
  • Valid BC Driver's license
  • WHMIS Certificate
  • Grounds keeping training or a minimum of 2‐3 years’ experience in this area
  • Must have education or equivalent experience with plant and tree maintenance
  • Must have a valid forklift operating certificate
  • Must have training and experience operating a chainsaw
  • Experience in operating a zero‐turn commercial mower

This is permanent, on-call (0% FTE) position, commencing July 7, 2025. Salary will be Pay Grade 8, $33.38 per hour in accordance with the PPWC Collective Agreement.
